Something cool to do with old keys?

February 182010

I have a bunch of old mailbox keys that my dad gave me because they got rid of a mailbox at the office building he manages. So I have a bunch (20-30) of mailbox keys right now and I don’t know what to do with them.
Ideas?
They look like this:

they’re brass I think? so what should I do.
I can sodder (sp?) them if I want, I thought about spray-painting them but… we didn’t have any cool colors.
I was thinking about making a windchime some how because they sould really pretty and windchime-y when they hit each other. BUT they will tangle if I use string to attach them.

Ideas appreciated! :P
just noticed a few punctuation mistakes… oops and spelling:

and some others too.

Here’s a site with lots of uses for old keys, including windchimes. The ‘a key for Santa’ project would be a great community-service activity, if you’re in the mood.
Hope you find something you like.
