I have had intermittent problems with USPS mail delivery at my home. It is a single family residence in a large suburb. The latest problem really irks me. I do tend to get an above average amount of mail each day. So, I installed a brass mail slot in my front door – standard size – 2" x 7.5 inches. Nearly everything will fit through, although it may take two or three batches of mail to put it through (if there is a lot of mail on a given day). Magazines can be folded over just like in a standard mailbox. This week I found two different situations. First, the mail was stuck in the slot – half way in and half way out. Second, the mail was just placed on the ridge between the front door and the storm/screen door in front of it. Today, with 30 mph winds in the area – I opened the storm door to have the mail go flying out everywhere.
What are the rules regarding where the postal delivery person has to put the mail? Where can I find them? Thanks.
The other answer is correct – you need to contact your Postmaster. It may depend where you live, but many carriers would not be required to put mail through a slot in your door. Guidelines are pretty specific on what carriers can and don’t have to do; your Postmaster is the only person who can give you the specifics for your city.
contact your post office. the post master of your office should be able to help with your situation.
you could also try the web site. http://www.usps.com.
good luck.
