mailbox locked?

March 182010

Attempting to send a password to my email I get mailbox locked. How does this happen?

If you receive a message stating that your account has been locked for security reasons, this means that there have been too many attempts to sign in to your account with the incorrect password. As a security measure, your account has been locked to prevent unauthorized users from being able to access it.

If you haven’t been trying to sign in to your account with the wrong password, this is not necessarily cause for concern. It could simply be the result of another user mistakenly thinking that your ID is theirs. (To learn more about account security, please visit the Yahoo! Security Center.)

The lock on your account will expire 12 hours after it was initially locked—the lockout period will not reset each time you attempt to sign in while the account is still locked. You can try to sign in again after the lock has expired. We are unable to provide you with the exact time that your account was locked or when it will be unlocked.

If you have forgotten your password, we recommend that you request a new password online. After you receive your new password, you can try signing in again after the 12-hour lock has expired.

If you are still unable to sign in with your new password, please refer to our password problems help page for common reasons why you may be getting an "Invalid Password" error.

Locked Mailbox??

March 162010

My Nokia cell phn says.."mailbox is locked/contact your systems manager." …What does this mean?

It means….."mailbox is locked/contact your systems manager."

Contact your cellphone company salesperson or representative to have them unlock it.

You (or someone) did something to kick in an automatic lockdown for privacy and security’s sake.

Is it legal for the Townhouse Association to deny access to your mailbox or mail until a certain time?

March 142010

I live in a gated community, and they deny us the right to access our mail and mailbox until a certain time of the day. Even though the mailman has run already, this is just riduculous. What if you didn’t make it home in time to get your mail before they locked the gate?

When I was in the Military and were tasked to do certain work on the mail room, we sometimes REALLY needed to keep people out of the building for our convenience and efficiency. (Getting the jobs done faster and with less effort). However, we were instructed that it is illegal to deny people access to their mail, so it they were pricks about it and demanded to come in, we had no say.
So I would actually email the USPS and ask them. They are actually pretty quick on line.

What’s the turn around time for mail delivered to a p.o. box instead of my home mailbox? Are locks changed?

March 122010

Will I have to wait longer, or will I receive the mail faster since the p.o. box will be located at my local post office? Also, if I receive mail that requires a signature, will the post office hold it until I pick it up in person, or deliver it to my home address?

Last but not least, does the post office change locks between customers? Thanks

I have done this a few times over the years. You won’t necessarily get your mail any faster. If you receive mail that requires a signature, they will put a notice in your box to alert you they have mail that needs to be signed. (they keep that type mail in a special place inside the post office, not in your box). When a P O Box has been abandoned due to non payment, they change the locks in the boxes. I think they change them any way when a person’s time runs out on the box. I would verify this with them. I had a box one time and a family member had a key to the box, I went down and requested that they change the lock. They did, and the cost was very minimal.

remove lock from mailbox door?

March 102010

I need to remove the lock on the door to my mailbox condo unit the key does not go all the way in so now I need to take the lock out and replace it. We own the home and the home assoc. say we have to do the work ourselves. I don’t have access to the backside. What is the best way to repair this?

Use a "BUMP KEY". (Google it)

How do I keep my pad lock from feezing up on my mailbox ?

March 92010

My canada post mail box is exposed to the elements and every winter the pad lock freezes up.

Keep a little bottle of lock de-icer with you, the kind they sell for cars, and you can put a plastic bag over the lock too since the postie doesn’t need to use your lock. Heating the key or the lock with a lighter works though it doesn’t help the lock stay dry for the next time. Silicone spray is better than WD40 for locks, and graphite powder is great stuff to use once in a while. You can buy fairly weatherproof locks, too. I had one from Lee Valley which was fine for about a year on my mailbox. Until I lost the key and had to pry it open, but that’s another story.
