No, they do not have to deliver the mail to a curbside box if you are parked so they have to get out of the vehicle.

If you can’t move the car or the box so that they can deliver from the vehicle, you will have to arrange to pick up your mail at the post office.

Wendy is correct. If the mail is delivered by vehicle then the delivery person must be able to reach it from the vehicle. This includes height. The post the box sits on can't be too tall or too short. So if your car blocks the postal vehicle from reaching the box...no mail delivery.

Sounds like your mailman is a lazy bastard, or you forgot to tip him last Christmas. There's no reason for him not to deliver your mail when the box is right out by the curb. In many places, people keep their mailboxes mounted by their front doors and you don't see the postal carriers complaining about having to walk over there.

Seems he’s just being lazy and probably telling his boss (the post office) that you are blocking it or something. You should take a picture of how far you park from it and go into the post office, ask to speak to the manager or boss and get that resolved! That would just piss me off!!!

I used to work for the post office.. AND lived in a town recently, where this was a problem. The whole point of being in a vehicle is time efficient, which they HAVE TO be, if they are going to complete the route in a reasonable time. If they use the vehicle that pulls up, I am fairly certain that he is NOT required to deliver, if the box is blocked by any cars. If he is being forced to get out.. I would say that this is the problem, and I am betting you will be told that he will only deliver if there is enough space to reach the box, without getting out. In our town, we were completely aware that no vehicles are allowed to block it, when the mail is being delivered.

I see no issue if there are no hazards and plenty of room for him to get to your mailbox. Is the box easy to see? If it’s a new mailman maybe he doesnt realize its there.

As for the lost mail and finding out why it hasn’t been delivered, don’t talk to a regular postal employee at the post office. Find out the manager and see if they know for sure what the law states or who you should talk to about it. Also they should have an idea where your "lost" mail ended up. Maybe check with your neighbours and see if it was accidentally sent there?

Instead of talking to us you need to go talk to the postmaster, not just a postal employee, if you are providing space for them to deliver the mail and they aren’t they are at fault, also you need get the mail that has been "lost" or the mailman needs to be fired. If you have to ask the postmaster for their boss, there is no reason you shouldn’t be getting mail if you are providing a mailbox.
EDIT- dont give them an option of getting back to you, stay there and demand someone to take care of the situation, you dont have to be loud or rude, but it is a felony to tamper with someones mail, and if your mailman has been chunking it out of spite someone needs to do their job
