Like a number of manufacturers now, Garmin is generally not keen on having their products sold through eBay (unless the seller is an authorized dealer). In fact, they aren’t too fond of products being sold through Amazon either. Some manufacturers are trying to refuse warranty claims if products were purchased through eBay. The strategy Garmin has been pursuing is to offer discount coupons to consumers for their products and restricts use of the coupons. In other words, someone can sell a new Garmin gps chartplotter through eBay but unless the sale is made through an authorized Garmin dealer the mail-in rebate cannot be claimed. Also, only end customers can claim the rebate. This prevents any sellers from cashing the rebates to offer deep discount prices that way.
