What’s the turn around time for mail delivered to a p.o. box instead of my home mailbox? Are locks changed?

Will I have to wait longer, or will I receive the mail faster since the p.o. box will be located at my local post office? Also, if I receive mail that requires a signature, will the post office hold it until I pick it up in person, or deliver it to my home address?

Last but not least, does the post office change locks between customers? Thanks

I have done this a few times over the years. You won’t necessarily get your mail any faster. If you receive mail that requires a signature, they will put a notice in your box to alert you they have mail that needs to be signed. (they keep that type mail in a special place inside the post office, not in your box). When a P O Box has been abandoned due to non payment, they change the locks in the boxes. I think they change them any way when a person’s time runs out on the box. I would verify this with them. I had a box one time and a family member had a key to the box, I went down and requested that they change the lock. They did, and the cost was very minimal.
