Where are you supposed to send letters from? your mailbox or post office?

Becasue i’m trying to send a letter to a address but i’m not sure where im supposed to take it so it can be sent to the address. Never really send letters to people. Friends or family usually send my letters and I LOST contact with them so they don’t send any.
The post office is the most efficient way to mail a letter. They usually have drop boxes outside, as well as inside, with several pick up times per day. However, post offices can be a bit out of the way, so you might be able to find mailboxes along the sidewalk around town.
Closest to home would be mailing the letter wherever you pick up your mail. If you live somewhere with stacks of locked mailboxes (like an apartment building) there should be a box for outgoing mail, with a slot you can put your letter in. If you live in a single family home with its own mailbox, you can leave your letter in there, with the flag up if there is a flag.
Another option is to bring your letter to your workplace and ask around about mailing it. Every workplace sends out mail so it will be no problem to add your letter to the stack.
You are required to put a stamp on your letter. If it is heavy or large you will need extra postage, and they will tell you how much at the post office. You also should put a return address on in (your address, in the top left corner or on the back flap) so that if there are any issues, it can be returned.

Well honestly, it doesn’t really matter where you send it from. If you have your own personal mailbox just put the letter in and put up the flag so the mail person knows to take it before they put your mail in. If you have one of those like mailboxes that are for the whole street, and you have your own number and key to the mailbox, then there will be a slot to put letters and things in. The mail person also collects mail from there. Or if you want to you can go to the post office and drop it off in one of the drive by blue things. They collect mail from those everyday also.

You can send letters from your mailbox. You need to take packages to the post office. Don’t forget you need a stamp. If you are in the US, first class postage is currently 41 cents and will increase to 42 cents May 12, unless you buy the "Forever" stamps now.
