Alabama apartment living, Outside mailboxes in disrepair, is landlord required to fix them?

My apartment complex consists of 9-10 buildings and four apartments per building. On each side of the complex, there are outside rows of mailboxes set up one on top of the other (2 rows). The mailboxes are in constant disrepair..the doors are bent in, they wont close and mail often hangs out. I have informally requested several times that my mailbox is fixed, however it is to no avail. Is my landlord required to make such repairs..err..that is ‘slumlord’..and once I put in a formal request (i.e. certified mail letter) and they dont fix it inside of 14 days, would that be a valid reason to break my lease?

I am not completely sure on that…but it does sound like a relativly valid reason…

If you have requested multiple times and he still will not do it, than u might be able 2 break your lease if you have proof (ie. photocopy the letter you send and mark a date on it)…but im not 100% sure on that one
