Am I allowed to put fliers on cars and mailboxes?
March 42010
I just started a small errand business and am trying to get customers. Is it okay to put my fliers on mailboxes and on cars or will I get in trouble for that?
A window cleaning co just went around our neighborhood. they put the flyer in a zippy sandwich bag with a small smooth rock and tossed them on the sidewalk near our doorstpes. seems like a quick, easy way to deliver them, just toss and the plastic will protect. you can use pretty stones from the $1 store the shiny glass ones just throw carefully. =)

You can put the fliers on cars but most people will throw them away. You are not allowed to put fliers in mailboxes, that is a federal offense. You can put an ad on crisliest under services offered. Put fliers on peoples door too. Best Wishes.

it’s ok to put them on cars, doors, etc… but it’s against the law to put them in mailboxes

Putting anything in a mailbox is a federal offense as others have stated. You can ask the store/business about putting things on the cars, because most people who do not want it will just throw it on the ground and then you could be charged with littering since it is your property. If you could get a list of street listings, even though it may cost a lot, you can put ads in the mail and have them delivered by the USPS to get the word out. Good luck!

A HUGE no on the mailboxes, it’s federally protected and you would get into big trouble.
Cars, it’s a yes to do, but honeslty people throw those away as incredibly annoying. It would be better to post notices on the boards at grocery stores (cheaper too) and a stack at the library where they have a shelf for things like that.
