I have an accquantince at work who is starting up a pressure washing business. He asked if I would be willing to pass out fliers around some local subdivisions. I agreed but we are unsure of the amount I should get paid. Any ideas? It is just putting some fliers in mailboxes througout local subdivisions on Saturdays.

DO NOT put it in the mail box. You can stick it behind/under/above or in the storm door but not in the mailbox. Its not legal and you and person could be fined by the Postal Service (if you are in the USA).
Take minimum wage for you locale (or a tad more) as that would be fair.

It is illegal to put fliers or anything else in the mailbox that hasnt gone through the postal mail. AND there are citiy ordinances in most citites that prohibit them on doors and or cars too. Call your city gov and ask before you even begin. Try cars parked in a public parking lot, but even that too can get you in trouble. Good Luck…you had better get paid big bucks you might need it for bail.

I don’t know if this varies by state, but as far as I know that is against the law, and possibly a federal offense. If you are going to pass out fliers, you can’t put them in mailboxes, instead you have to tuck them in the door or something like that.
As for what he should pay you, I would think that it should be a small amount because it is easy work and also I am assuming you won’t be claiming this as income and therefore won’t have to pay tax on it…so I would think that around $6/hr would be reasonable. Assuming you spend 4 hours on a Saturday doing this, that would be about $25.

Since this is a minimal task job, minimum wage or close to it. Or make the friend an offer of a certain dollar amount for a certain amount of flyers placed.
Also, most shopping malls restrict placing of ads on cars, so in addition to not putting them in mailboxes, don’t head to a mall parking lot either.
