Can the DMV refuse to renew my license or registration if i don’t have a valid address ?

Ok so i’m homeless and don’t have a valid residential or mailing address and i don’t want the responsibility of renting a mailbox/PO box. So if the DMV sends something in the mail and it gets returned, could they hassle me about not having a valid address ?

I used a hotel address when i got my license, registration but i live in my vehicle now so i don’t have any sort of mailing address.

Also, what state should i move to where the DMV is sympathetic and convenient for people without an address ?

Sorry to say that yes you do need a valid address. They go by a point system now to renew. If you don’t have the required points , you will not get a license. What i don’t understand is. if you are homeless , how can you be on the internet and how can you afford a P.O. Box if needed ?

Yes, they need a physical address first and foremost. Second they will additionally take a po box for mailings.
Talk to your local shelter and see if you can use their address. States vary in some rules, but address requirements are universal.

Pick a warm state, just for your comfort. Las Vegas has a lot of empty homes right now. I’ve often thought there should be a service where the banks put homeless people in foreclosed houses to house sit and keep them from being vandalized. There’s a new business for you to start!
