Sims 2: How do you create an apartment?

I recently installed Sims 2 Apartment Life. But somehow I cannot manage to figure out how to create one. I’ve tried making a residential lot, a community lot, and either way I can’t figure out how to make it official (as in, there is a mailbox suitable for paying rent and having a landlord). So how do I make an apartment???

To create an Apartment:

Enter a residential lot and create the apartment as you wish. Remember to PLACE THE CORRECT APARTMENT DOORS, or else it won’t work!!

After that, simply open the cheat box (the cheat box can be opened by pressing Ctrl, Shift + C at the same time) and enter the code "changeLotZoning apartmentbase" without the quotation marks. Remember, apartmentbase is one word!

    Also a piece of advice. Leave a gap between any side by side apartments, basically when you create your apartments make sure that all along the connecting wall there is a one square room with no doors to it. This is your sound buffer zone. You can then place your bedrooms wherever you like and no matter how much noise your neighbours make it will only make noise in the buffer zone and therefore not wake anyone up.
