Where and how should residential mail boxes be attached to a house?

Since enclosing our porch, we have kept the mailbox on the porch wall. No one has complained yet, however, we will be getting a new mailman soon and would like to know if my mailbox location is acceptable. Thank you.

As stated, check with your local Post Office. Most Postmen are not required to go into an enclosed area to deliver mail.

You need to contact your post office or postal carrier. They may have their own requirements. A couple of years ago in our city, we needed to move our box from the porch near the door, to a standalone mailbox nearer the street because of changes in their requirements.

Call the post office and ask them. They decide these things.
