I live in a large housing tract in Germantown, MD. 30 years ago, this area was farmland, now it’s a dense suburb. The postal carriers are still delivering all mail from vehicles and will NOT get out of their vehicle nor even lean a foot away to put mail in a box. If cars are parked (legally) in the way of them being able to align their truck window perfectly with a mailbox, they don’t deliver.
This is preposterous. This area should either be a walking route or carriers should be required to step out or reach a few feet every so often to deliver the mail. There is nowhere near sufficient street parking to support a rural route style delivery. How can we get the local postmaster to change the carrier route type and end this stupidity?
usps has a website and they offer means for you to communicate any difficulties to them. I would start there…….plus they give the addresses for your local Postmasters, etc. You have the internet, so use it to your best interest!! You may not be able to accomplish this without a petition from others in your location, but you can get the ball rolling and be pro-active!!
KUDOS!! for wanting to be pro-active and help to bring about the solution instead of simply whine about the problem!!
Write to the Postmaster General.
