Shepherdsville, KY Day of Service Report
May 32010
President Hahn from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reports on this year’s Day of Service in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. The sound is a big difficult to hear so see below for a transcript.
Question: Tell us about the service project.
President Hahn: Our day of service this year we went out to help three different folks, on three different projects. We had a very large turnout for a branch. We spent the time cleaning up, straightening up the yard, fixing a gutter, and helping some neighbors. We painted a mailbox, painted some stones (decorative statues), Raided up a lot of leaves, spread some mulch, and beautified the home. It was particularly overrun. On another project we did tree limb removal, and the third project we repaired a metal shed.
Question: Were you able to provide the Christ-like service you wanted on the Day of Service?
President Hahn: I think it was a great success. The service we were able to provide was beneficial to those who needed the work done and it provided a valuable service to the community. Certainly the folks on either side of the home were very appreciative. Its a neighborhood thing. We werent just helping one person we were helping the neighborhood improve. The values of the homes go up because if you live next to the house and its trashed and not kept up, it reflects poorly on you and everyone that comes to your house, and they see that you live in a neighborhood thats not as great as perhaps it could be. I felt like it was very much appreciated.
